Editorial: Marion Cotillard For TIMES Style&Design Fall 2012

Photographer Peter Hapak tried to evoke feelings of Paris and Parisian fashion in the 1930′s for Marion Cotillard’s spread in TIMES Style&Design Fall 2012 issue. “She’s the representation of the French woman for me – elegant, but not too stylized.” I could not agree more! Marion was styled in looks from French house designers, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Christian Dior, and others, such as Gucci and Dries Van Noten.

Look of the Day (Update): Victoria Beckham

Look of the Day (Update): Victoria Beckham

A few days ago, I posted the fabulous Victoria Beckham as my look of the day while shopping in Paris, but I couldn’t identify all of what she was wearing. But after doing a bit of research, I found that Victoria was wearing a Jil Sander blouse, a Maison Martin Margiela skirt and Giuseppe Zanotti boots. Her son Romeo looks quite handsome, as well. Who wouldn’t want to go shopping with them?

Look of the Day: Poppy Delevigne

Poppy Delevigne wore the classic denim and white shirt combo to the Christian Dior Fall 2012 Couture show in Paris, but with a twist. Both her skirt and blouse are Chanel, and her gold sandals are from Givenchy, an oversized clutch and aviator shades completed her perfectly cool, Parisan chic ensemble.

Front Row View: Olivia Palermo at Valentino Fall 2012 Couture

Olivia Palermo looked sweet and unique while attending the Valentino Haute Couture show in Paris, and of course, she pulled off her look quite effortlessly.

She wore a pink lace tiered dress worn over a white slip, a white skinny belt, silver studded peep-toed heels, a silver clutch, and a pair of cat-eye sunglasses. Her dress is ultra-feminine, but I love how she added more statement pieces such as the studded shoes, and the sunglasses, to add a bit of contrast. Olivia’s hair and makeup also add to the sweetness of her look. Olivia always manages to appear fresh and unique in whatever that she wears, which is why I love her style!

Runway: Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2012 Couture

Designer Jean Paul Gaultier gained inspiration from  poet Alfred de Musset’s “Confession of a Child of the Century,” which tells the 19th century story of a man in love with a woman who wears menswear clothing, for his Fall 2012 Couture collection. Thus, the collection included androgynous ensembles such as top hats, lush furs, tuxedo jackets, art-deco inspired prints and sheer chiffon, and leather vest paired with sheer tops. (Other sites say the collection is inspired by Pete Doherty and famous French female writer George Sand!)

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli focused on dark evening wear for the Valentino Couture Fall 2012 show, being party inspired by painter Gustave Moreau who, according to the house was, “A lover of dark colors but never painted with black.” As a result, heavy brocade, painted floral patterns, intricate beading, and long-sleeved dresses in solid colors.

The Elie Saab Fall 2012 Couture show was, in a word, pretty – with the focus strictly on cocktail dresses and evening gowns, all in delicate fabrics and soft shades.

Mastering the relaxed yet stylish look isn’t always easy but Anja Rubik shows us how we can do it while departing from the Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2012 show in a beige wrap-style long dress, paired with simple black flats, transparent round sunglasses, and a black bag. Who knew simple could look so sophisticated?

Armani Prive Fall 2012 Couture was about going from morning-to-midnight, with models such as Aymeline Valade and Jasmine Tookes wearing mysterious veils, trousers with generous volume, cocktail dresses, and more.
