Runway: Helmut Lang Spring 2013

For Helmut Lang Spring 2013, designers Nicole and Michael Colovos stepped away from the brand’s usual minimalist approach, and brought about a few changes. The feel of this collection was “under the sea,” but with a scientific feel. Silhouettes had the precision of nautical instruments, the colors were fresh and aquatic, and the floral tattoo prints (created in collaboration with tattoo artist Thomas Hooper) were inspired by German biologist Ernst Haeckel. The result? A fashionable surf and turf with a touch of urban cool.
