Cool Finds: Balmain Fall 2012 Biker Down Jacket
It’s never too early to begin browsing for Fall essentials, and what’s more essential than a cool jacket? Balmain wants you guys to prepare for the Fall with it’s $1,906 (approximate) Fall 2012 Biker Down Jacket, which can be purchased at RESTIR. It has the similar silhouette and accenting as a leather jacket, but uses materials more suited for everyday weather. What do you think of it?
Look of the Day: Joan Smalls
A fun print is great for the day, but it can also be worn for a polished nighttime ensemble, and Joan Smalls shows how it can be done! Joan hit up the red carpet at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin wearing a pair of printed pants by Helene Berman, a sheer black blouse, and black ankle-cuff sandals. A simple black leather clutch and hoop earring completed her look. I love the subtle sexiness provided from the sheer top, so if we want to try the printed pant trend, try pairing it with a sheer blouse and similar ankle-cuff sandals for a sophisticated date or party night outfit.

Runway: Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2012 Couture
Designer Jean Paul Gaultier gained inspiration from poet Alfred de Musset’s “Confession of a Child of the Century,” which tells the 19th century story of a man in love with a woman who wears menswear clothing, for his Fall 2012 Couture collection. Thus, the collection included androgynous ensembles such as top hats, lush furs, tuxedo jackets, art-deco inspired prints and sheer chiffon, and leather vest paired with sheer tops. (Other sites say the collection is inspired by Pete Doherty and famous French female writer George Sand!)
Who I Listen To: Mac Miller
I’m a day late, but check out this dope video filled with flags and cool graphics from Mac Miller featuring Casey Veggies, and Joey Bada$$, entitled “America.” Mac Miller has a very unique style that took me a while to actually like, but after listening to his mixtape Macadelic, I became a fan. Get acquainted with all three artists, because they have a lot to offer. Enjoy!

Runway: Valentino Fall 2012 Couture
Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli focused on dark evening wear for the Valentino Couture Fall 2012 show, being party inspired by painter Gustave Moreau who, according to the house was, “A lover of dark colors but never painted with black.” As a result, heavy brocade, painted floral patterns, intricate beading, and long-sleeved dresses in solid colors.
